SPRING FISHING IN DANIA BEACH, HOLLYWOOD & FORT LAUDERDALE
Spring brings steady fishing conditions to South Florida. As the water warms and bait becomes more consistent, a variety of species move through the reefs and offshore edges. Launching from Dania Beach, we’re close to both the nearshore reef line and the offshore color changes where many spring fish are found.
This time of year often has enough wind for kite fishing, and we also use live bait, drifting, or trolling depending on what makes the most sense that day. Spring usually provides a mix of opportunities for anglers visiting Hollywood, Dania Beach, and Fort Lauderdale.
TRIP OPTIONS
4 Hour Trip
A shorter outing that works well in spring. Good for kite fishing near the reef or checking nearby areas for kingfish, tuna, and other species. A simple option for families or anyone staying close by.
6 Hour Trip
The trip length we recommend most often in spring. It gives us enough time to set up kite spreads, move offshore if needed, or work different depths based on conditions.
8 Hour Trip
Best for anglers who want as much time on the water as possible. Allows us to fish multiple areas — reef, offshore edges, or deeper wrecks — and switch techniques if needed.
SPRING
TARGET SPECIES
Mahi Mahi
Mahi begin to show more consistently in spring. We usually find them around weedlines, birds, or offshore rips.
Blackfin Tuna
Spring is one of the better times for blackfin tuna. They often eat live baits fished from the kite or drift setups.
Sailfish
Although winter is the primary season, spring still offers regular sailfish opportunities, especially on windy days.
King Mackerel
Kings remain active along the reef edge. They commonly strike live baits fished from the kite or on a drift.
Sharks
Reef sharks and blacktips are fairly common during the spring months and are hooked while fishing for other species.
